Search Analytics

Updated by Typesense

Search Analytics shows you what your users search for, which searches find nothing and which filters they use. So you can see where synonyms and curation rules will help the most.

Turning it on

  1. Open your Cluster Dashboard and click on "Search Analytics" in the left pane.

  2. Pick the collection your users search in.

  3. Click on "Turn on search analytics".

This creates the Analytics Rules and the collections they record searches in, named after your collection.

Search Analytics needs Typesense Server v0.25.0 or above, and some tabs need newer versions. If you don't see a tab, you want to upgrade your cluster's Typesense version from Cluster Configuration > Modify.

What you'll see

  • "Top searches": the most common searches.

  • "No results": searches that returned nothing. These are the best candidates for synonyms or for content you're missing.

  • "Filters": the filters your users apply most.

  • "Clicks and conversions": counts of clicks and conversions on each document. Your site needs to send these events to Typesense, as described here.

  • "Rules": the analytics rules on your cluster, which you can edit.

Email reports

On a report tab, click on "Email me this report" to get it emailed to one or more people, daily, every 3 days, weekly or every 4 weeks.

You can also turn searches that found nothing into synonym suggestions. See Synonym Suggestions.
